What is Rolfing®?

-
Rolfing® is an approach to manual / touch therapy created by Dr. Ida P. Rolf, an early pioneer in working with fascia and lines of fascial tension to help bodies move and feel better.
-
Rolfing is just one school of a broader body of work known as Structural Integration. All Structural Integrators (sometimes called "Structural Bodyworkers") focus on releasing fascial tension to help the body find more ease in gravity and with movement.
-
Certified Rolfers® like Kat are trained to work with the body as a whole system, which means that they don't just focus on the location of your symptoms... their work explores larger postural and movement patterns, limitations, and possibilities.
-
Of course Rolfers are impacting much more than fascia. Within the course of a session a Rolfer may target specific joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles, nerves, and even organs. But fascia is the constant lens through which Rolfers consider how to approach therapeutic treatment, where and why their touch may produce change in your body, and what success looks (and feels) like.
-
Rolfing is traditionally administered as a series of ten sessions (known as "The Ten Series"), but the same therapeutic principles can be applied in a single session or smaller series of sessions. Whether you're looking for treatment to help with a specific issue or an avenue for just generally feeling better in your body, Rolfing can help.
-
Fun Fact: Rolfers in the state of Oregon are required to be licensed massage therapists, so they are all also LMTs!
